Amb Sefue becomes TPDC board chair, Maswi new PPRA CEO

PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has made appointments of various heads of institutions as part of continued efforts to improve productivity and efficiency in service delivery.

Among the new appointees include retired Chief Secretary, Ambassador Ombeni Sefue, who now becomes the Board Chairman for Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).

Amb Sefue is taking over from Mr Halfani Ramadhan Halfani, who has been moved to serve the same post in the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA).

A statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications on Friday reads further that President Samia also appointed Prof Rwekaza Mukandala Chairman of the Council of the University of Dodoma (UDOM).

Prof Mukandala who is the retired Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salam (UDSM) is replacing Ms Gaudencia Kabaka.

President Samia also appointed Prof Said Yahya Othman to serve the post of Chairperson of the Council of the Mzumbe University.

“Prof Othman, who is a retired associate Professor of the University of Dar es Salaam, is covering a vacuum left by Prof Mathew Luhanga, who died on September 16th 2021,” read part of the statement.

In another development, President Samia has appointed Eng Charles Sangweni to become the Director General of Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA).

Prior to his appointment, Eng Sangweni was heading PURA in an acting capacity.

More so, the Head of State appointed Eng Modestus Lumato to become the new Director General of the Energy and Water Regulatory Authority EWURA.

Prior to his latest appointment, Mr Lumato was Production Manager of the TPDC.   

A list of appointees also includes Eliakim Maswi, who has been named the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).

“Mr Maswi is taking over from Dr Irene Isaka, who moves to the East Africa Community (EAC) to serve the post of Director of Social Sector,” further read the statement.
