NGOs train women on digital to improve business income

KARIBU Cultural Contract (KCC) in collaboration with Dira Women Organisation (DIWO) yesterday trained some 55 women small entrepreneurs on how to use digital platforms to boost their businesses and income.

The entrepreneurs were drawn from different parts of Dar es Salaam, with the organisations believing that upon the capacity building training, the participants will expand their markets products and grow in businesses.

The KCC, Chief Executive Officer, Ms Bhwai Nicodemus, said the training was part of initiative which started last year and has already trained many youth and women entrepreneurs at border areas.

"Today we are training and imparting skills on how they could optimize digital platforms to excel in their business," Ms Bhwai stated at the side-lines of the training.

She said the training was in response to revelations that several women closed their businesses during the Covid-19 because of lack of knowledge, while operating from home using digital technology.

"Therefore, we build their capacity on how they can reach out to more customers digitally," she stressed.

However, she expressed optimism that upon the training the participants will go out there and pass the knowledge to their colleagues, hence making the training have multiplier effects.

Commenting, Executive Director of the Dira organisation, Ms ShamsaDanga, said that after building their capacity her organisation will make efforts to link them with markets outside the country.

Since 2018 the organisation has managed to connect many local entrepreneurs to foreign markets and business partners.

One of training participants, Ms Joyce Fadhili, was hopeful that the training would enable her use digital platforms effectively to benefit her business.
