President Samia tasks rights activists to shift focus

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has tasked human rights defenders to advocate for the rights of other marginalized groups including children.

She said the rights of children are being infringed but activists do not 'shout more' like how they do to protect politicians.

The Head of State who was a guest of honour at the 10th Anniversary celebration of the Tanzania Human  Rights Defenders Coalition (THRDC) held at the PSSSF Hall in Dar es Salaam on Friday assured human rights activists to that her government is ready to work with them in advocating for the rights of the various group in the country. 

President Samia assured the coalition that her government will continue to be transparent in expenditures in order to comply with global standards as well as attract more funds from development partners.

Meanwhile, the Head of State urged THRDC to educate citizens on the importance of protecting each other’s rights which have been stipulated by Articles 29 and 30 of the Constitution.
