Govt contemplates integrating business licences

THE Minister of State in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Innocent Bashungwa, said there was a need for his portfolio and that of Industry, Investment and Trade to see how to integrate group A and B business licences to avoid confusing traders.

Minister Bashungwa made the statement yesterday when he visited the Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA) pavilion at the ongoing trade fair in Kigoma region. Bashungwa admitted that the issuance of group A business licences by BRELA and those of group B by district councils were confusing traders.

“There is a need for these ministries to sit together and look at the possibilities of enabling issuance of these licences from one place, unlike the current situation,” explained Bashungwa.

Bashungwa, who officially closed the trade fair but directed extension of exhibition for two days more, said he would also discuss the matter with the BRELA Chief Executive Officer. The trade fair involved traders from Burundi, Rwanda, Zambia, Congo and Tanzania.
