Samia wants chiefs’ support in national cultural festival preps

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has directed the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports to collaborate with chiefs, traditional leaders and other stakeholders in the preparations of the upcoming Grand National Cultural Festival scheduled in May, this year.

The President said this on Saturday when she was officiating Kilimanjaro Cultural Festival at Ushirika Stadium in Moshi, Kilimanjaro expressing her optimism that the event will bring all regions together,

At the colorful event attended by various government officials, traditional leaders and wananchi, the Head of State urged the culturally responsible Ministry to be very strategic in the investment of the national and historic occasion.

She said the ministry should grasp opportunities from the National Cultural Festival to promote and market in terms of culture and various tourism destinations and invite ambassadors representing their respective countries in Tanzania.

“Let the ministries dealing with culture and tourism altogether come up with a joint strategy to identify international and regional festivals that will be improved and strategically conducted so that they can attract foreigners and market the country..,” President Samia Suluhu Hassan said.

Reacting to the Kilimanjaro region and national Chairman of Chiefs, Frank Marealle, who requested the government to collaborate with the country’s chiefs to prepare a database for the traditional rulers, Samia said until January 21, 2022  a total of 92 chiefs were already been registered including herself  ‘Chief Hangaya’
