Geita Gold fires Coach Ndayiragije

THE Mainland Premier League debutants Geita Gold have become the first club this season to go separate ways with their Head Coach Ettiene Ndayiragije just four games at the helm of the team.

A statement issued by the club's Information and Communication Department on Sunday said the two sides reached mutual agreement to terminate the contract claiming that the coach had failed to meet agreed targets.

The statement further disclosed that for now, the team will be under the tutelage of Assistant Coach Felix Minziro until the procedures to get his (Ndayiragije) successor are complete.

"The club would like to thank coach Ndayiragije for the time he spent with us and for his great contributions until this far as such, we wish him all the success in his new football responsibilities outside our club," reads part of the statement.

The former national team Taifa Stars Head Coach has therefore become the first trainer to be sacked in the unfolding season and before the start of the campaign, he was among the list of coaches forecasted to excel at the club.

His last match was a 1-1 draw against Mbeya City on Saturday at Nyankumbu Stadium in Geita whereby the hosts trailed from one goal down to make it level courtesy of George Mpole's 57th minute goal who equalised Juma Luizio's 45th minute strike.

Prior to this match, they also recorded a 1-1 draw at the same venue from Mtibwa Sugar before stamping two away back to back defeats against Young Africans (1-0) and Namungo (2-0).

It was Geita Gold's fourth match of the campaign in which they remain win-less and have just generated two points earned from two draws hence they have started the season on a back pedal.
