THE construction sector grew by 9.1 per cent in 2020 overshadowing the mining sector that grew by 6.7 per cent.
Finance and Planning Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba revealed on Thursday that construction sector retained its position amid the novel coronavirus pandemic related problems.
He said Information and Communication as well as Transportation and Logistics come second each with a growth rate of 8.4 per cent. Other sectors include, Administration-related services (7.8 per cent); Professional, Scientific and Technical activities (7.3 per cent); Minerals and stones (6.7 per cent); and Health and Social Services (6.5 per cent).
“Economic activities such as accommodation, food service as well as arts and entertainment recorded a negative growth in 2020,” he said. The Minister is set to present a national budget later on Thursday.
