MORE than 400 Community Development Practitioners Association of Tanzania (CODEPATA) members are set to convene from Thursday to deliberate on how to handle emerging issues in the sector.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Codepata President, Wambura Sundan said during the four -day meeting that they will also hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will coincide with election of new leaders.
He said the public should also know that community development professionals are not about supervising the council’s issues to women, youth and the disabled but cater across so many areas.
“We want community development professionals to change their mindset as we bring them together with social welfare officers from across the country to discuss a number of issues pertaining to their profession,” said Mr Sundan.
The event will also include exhibitions from a number of stakeholders who will also take the practitioners through topics of ethics, integrity, professionalism and code of conduct as they aim to have a vibrant industry that contributes more to the national economy.
“The members will be empowered through a number of empowerment and capacity building presentations for improved productivity that matches with the country’s lower middle income economic status” said Mr Sundan.
He noted that there were a number of initiatives carried out by the government in ensuring that sustainable human development that copes with environmental protection were attained.
“The meeting provides social welfare officers with a platform to discuss issues pertaining to their profession,” said the President.
