Ugandans go to polls today, security maximum

Ugandans are casting their presidential votes today (January 14, 2021) where the incumbent President, Yoweri Museveni is facing strong opposition from the famous musician  Robert Kyagulanyi "Bobi Wine" from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) after leading the country for 35 years.

While the government has taken a decision to shut down all social media including Facebook, Whatsup to avoid occurance of chaos and violence, President Museveni says several of them are leaned on supporting some parties.  

Equally, the election campaigns were stopped in Kampala and some districts as a measure to take precautions against hooliganism and spread of the coronavirus pandemic in overcrowded places.

The country has some 18 million voters registered to elect their presidential and parliamentary candidates in nearly 35,000 polling stations.
