Prime Minister to officiate industrial products expo

PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa is today expected to officially inaugurate the 5th Tanzanian industrial products exhibition at Dar es Salaam International Trade fair grounds- Sabasaba.

Industries and Trade Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr Ludovick Nduhiye told reporters here yesterday that this year’s exhibitions have attracted 596 exhibitors from Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar, while in 2019 there were 542 exhibitors.

He said exhibitors started to showcase their products since yesterday ahead of the official opening today.

According to Mr Nduhiye, the theme for this year’s exhibition is ‘Use Tanzanian Products, Build Tanzania’, and that it aims at sensitizing Tanzanians to buy and use locally manufactured products to stimulate production development of industries in the country.

“Now that we have attained the middle-income status, these exhibitions are important since they are in line with the government goals to build up an industrial economy,” he said.

He added, “We believe manufacturers will bring their products so that Tanzanians could see and buy them. It is also a platform for all manufacturers, producers and suppliers of raw materials to build business networks, exchange ideas and experience,” The seven-day exhibitions have been organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade through its Tanzania Trade Development Authority (Tan- Trade).

According to Mr Nduhiye, the exhibitions will go along with meeting sessions, which will involve the ministry, industry owners and regulatory bodies.

He said stakeholders will meet to discuss various issues, including possible solutions for challenges facing the industrial sector.

Mr Nduhiye said the most important component in the exhibition is a business clinic which started yesterday, where institutions in charge of the business chain in the country listen and address challenges that face Tanzanian producers.
