ZANZIBAR Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) presidential candidate, Dr Hussein Mwinyi has pledged to upgrade Micheweni Health Centre to a District Hospital if he wins the 28th October, 2020 General Elections.
Speaking at a campaign rally in North Pemba’s Micheweni district on Thursday, Dr Mwinyi also promised to recruit specialist medics in his vision to guarantee superb medical services to all Zanzibaris in the area.
He equally, pledged to strengthen the country’s health sector, boost procurement of medicines and medical equipment as well as hire adequate professionals to provide excellent medical services to the islanders.
Dr Mwinyi, himself a medical doctor, argued that good health is inevitable for wananchi to fully participate in the nation building activities and increase their incomes.
In a related development, he assured seaweed and clove farmers that should Zanzibaris elect him as their president, he will construct big processing industries to add value to the islands’ major cash crops.
The presidential aspirant further pledged recruitment of more science teachers and construct modern schools to improve the students’ pass rate in the country.
He said his government will as well construct huge terraces to restrict water from the ocean running into the’ farms, adding that all agricultural extension officers will have to reach and guide farmers on their farms.
Elaborating, he pledged credit facilities and modern fishing gears to small scale fishers to enable them perform their duties with great efficiency.
Dr Mwinyi said one of his top priorities will be to uplift small entrepreneurs through loans, training and markets for their products.
Construction of big processing industries, which will use mostly agricultural produce and marine products as their raw materials, is another strategy for job creation for many educated and non-educated youth.
Equally, he implored CCM members, fans, supporters and wananchi in general to stand firm for the country’s peace and unity and snubbing all politicians attempting to indulge them in senseless conflicts.
Dr Mwinyi beseeched Micheweni and all Pemba islanders to vote for CCM candidates for the union and Zanzibar presidencies as well as parliamentary and House of Representatives seats and shehas.
CCM Vice-Chairman, Zanzibar, Dr Ali Mohamed Shein touted the election of Dr Mwinyi and all CCM candidates to sustain the social and economic development, which the country has so far achieved.
President Shein described Dr Mwinyi as the lone presidential candidate with the will and capability of protecting the union and 1964 revolutions of Zanzibar.
