THIRTEEN teams from major divisions in Zanzibar have been relegated at the end of 2018/2019 season, it was confirmed here yesterday.
That was confirmed here yesterday at Amaan Stadium by the Zanzibar League Committee secretary, Alawi Haidar Foum in his report about all major leagues staged in Zanzibar in the just ended season.
Elaborating, Foum said the relegated teams from the First Division at the zonal level will play in the Second Division League at the national level while those relegated from the Second Division are required to play in the district level leagues.
Among the relegated teams are Shangani, Negro FC and Sebuleni from Zanzibar Urban West while Sharp Boys are from North A District. From Zanzibar North District B, the relegated is Mahonda while Kijanja is the team from Zanzibar South.
Other victims of relegation scare are Mchangani, Mpapa, White Bird and Super Tiger, all from the Central District. From Unguja Zone, those relegated include African Coast, Zantex, Mahonda Kids and Charawe who previously played in the top flight league.
Meanwhile, Mafunzo FC player Shaibu Haji will miss seven matches of the Zanzibar Premier League when the new league resumes in August. Player has been slapped a seven-match ban on indiscipline.
The player was found to have committed the immoral act during his team’s last league match against Malindi at Amaan Stadium
