The 41st President of the United States, George H.W. Bush, has died at the age of 94.
His son who is also the US former President George W. Bush confirmed the demise of last night.
Bush's health had been failing in recent years but he still managed to make public appearances.
In April, this year, he was admitted to hospital, with a blood infection but had since been discharged.
His death comes seven months after his wife, Barbara Bush passed away at their home in Houston, Texas after a long battle with congestive heart failure.
The demised Bush served as the 41st US president between 1989 and 1993, his term defined by the end of the Cold War and the first Iraq war against Saddam Hussein.
