UDOM ‘output’ up from 5,500 to 7,122

THE number of students who are expected to graduate from the University of Dodoma (UDOM) this year is set to increase to 7,122 from 5,500 last year, the institution’s acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Peter Msoffe, has said.

Briefing reporters at UDOM’s 9th graduation ceremony here on Tuesday, Prof Msoffe, who doubles as the institution’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research and Consultancy), said the number of UDOM alumnus would this year reach 44,000 since its inception in 2007.

“This year’s graduation ceremony will see a good number of students being conferred with doctorate degrees,” he said.

The UDOM’s 9th graduation ceremony which is scheduled to take place today and tomorrow. will be preceded by a convocation, at which Indian High Commissioner Sandeep Arya, will be the main speaker.

Prof Msoffe pointed out that at least 19 candidates will be conferred with doctorate degrees, 6,125 students will receive undergraduate degrees and 220 students will be conferred with Master’s degrees in different courses.

He pointed out that the colleges involved in day one of the graduation ceremony are College of Education, College of Earth Sciences, College of Health Sciences and College of Informatics and Virtual Education.

“Students from colleges of Natural and Mathematical Sciences and College of Humanities and Social Sciences will graduate on Friday,” said Prof Msoffe.
