PRESIDENT John Magufuli has made a mini cabinet reshuffle, appointing Mr Japhet Hasunga as new Minister for Agriculture, while Mr Joseph Kakunda has been appointed Minister for Industry, Trade and Investments.
The two ministers replaced Dr Charles Tizeba (Agriculture) and Mr Charles Mwijage (Industry, Trade and Investments), whose appointments have been revoked.
According to a statement released late yesterday by the Director of Presidential Communications, Mr Gerson Msigwa, Dr Magufuli has also appointed four new Deputy Ministers.
He appointed Mr Constantine Kanyasu to become Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, replacing Mr Hasunga, who has been appointed Agriculture Minister.
The President has also appointed Dr Mary Mwanjelwa as the Deputy Minister of State, President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance.
Prior to her appointment, Dr Mwanjelwa was the Deputy Minister for Agriculture. President Magufuli has also appointed Mr Mwita Waitara, to become the Deputy Minister of State, President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government, TAMISEMI, taking over from Mr Kakunda, who has been Appointed Minister for Industry, Trade and Investments.
President Magufuli has also appointed Mr Innocent Bashungwa, to become Deputy Minister for Agriculture, taking over from Dr Mwanjelwa who has been shifted to the President’s Office, Public Service Management and good Governance.
The statement said the appointment was effective yesterday and the new ministers will be sworn in at the State House in Dar es Salaam tomorrow.
Meanwhile, President Magufuli has revoked the appointment of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania (CBT) Chairperson, Ms Anna Abdallah and dissolved the board effective yesterday.
