Frequently check your health statuses, RC urges residents

THE Kagera Regional Commissioner (RC), Brig Gen Marco Gaguti has appealed to people to invest in their health by frequently checking their health statuses, hinting that weak and sickling people can not positively contribute in economic growth of the country.

Mr Gaguti made the appeal while launching a Mobile Clinic that is being run by a team of 27 specialist doctors at the Bukoba Regional Referral Hospital. 

Giving a speech on behalf of the RC, the Muleba District Commissioner (DC), Engineer Richard Ruyango said that investing in health was a crucial thing, adding: “I also urge people to join the Community Health Fund (CHF) to enable them to enjoy services rendered by the Fund.”

In another development, he asked the Medical Board and the hospital management to ensure that essential drugs were made available all the times also at the institution at affordable prices.

Engineer Ruyango thanked the specialist doctors for accepting the invitation to visit Kagera Region to conduct the mobile clinic. 

Equally, he made a spot visit at the institution to console patients with a team of specialist medics from Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), Bugando Medical Centre (BMC), Mbeya Referral Hospital and Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC), who promised to continue providing treatments to the patients.

The special doctors included Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Urologists, ENT and OT Surgeons, Pediatricians, Ophthalmologists, Dermatologists, Radiologists and Anaesthesiologists.

However, acting Kagera Regional Medical Officer (RMO), Dr Nelson Rumbeli informed the RC that the special medics were providing treatment for five days at subsidized costs.
