THE Open University of Tanzania (OUT) will host the 2nd Multidisciplinary International Doctorial Research Scholar Summit to be held on 21st next month in Dar es Salaam.
The summit is organised by the Tanzanian firm working as publishers of academic journals, educational books and other related materials, namely JLS-Africa in collaboration with OUT’s Directorate of Postgraduate Studies (DPS).
Speaking yesterday during their tour to Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) Limited headquarters, the event chairman, Mr Maulana Ali said the summit is a platform for PhD research scholars to present their papers which they are working on, before final submission to their respective academic institutions.
Mr Ali who was accompanied by officials from the university’s Communications Unit, said papers which will be presented at the conference will be published and therefore can be basis of promotion or in partial fulfillment of the requirements for PhD at various universities.
“We have come for an awareness session, given that TSN, who are the publishers of Daily News, Sunday News, Habari Leo, Habari Leo Jumapili and Spoti Leo newspapers are good partners of our university,” he said in a meeting with TSN’s Acting Managing Editor, Ms Tuma Abdallah.
He also invited TSN to serve as the media partner in the December summit that will bring scholars from within and outside the country.
“This year we have former Minister of Finance who is a Member of Parliament, Ms Saada Mkuya, Tanzania’s Ambassador to Zambia, Abdulrahman Kaniki and the Rufiji District Commissioner, Mr Juma Njwayo,” he said.
Receiving the guests, Ms Tuma appreciated the cooperation that TSN has been receiving from OUT, welcoming them to utilise various services that the company is offering, including story writing, printing of various publications and documentary production.
“We are thankful for the invitation to participate in the December summit; it is a great opportunity for us since the company is expanding its scope. And I’m welcoming you to use this company on disseminating your information to the public by using our print and online (digital) platform which is picking up,” she said.
She went on to invite OUT to participate in the TSN Business Forum to be held in Tabora region from 21st to 23rd November this year.
