TADB set to finance major projects in Tabora

TANZANIA Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has advised Tabora regional authorities to send five major agribusiness project proposals that requires immediate financing.

TADB acting Managing Director Japhet Justine said at a meeting in Dar es Salaam recently that the bank believes by identifying key agro-projects it will accelerate the region and nation as whole towards attaining middle income economy as per government plan.

“TADB is established purposely to finance agribusiness projects that target to answer the challenge of working capital,” Mr Justine said at a meeting with Tabora Regional Commissioner, Aggrey Mwanri and Tanzania Standard Newspapers Limited officers ahead of Tabora Business Forum slated towards the end of the month.

TSN, the publishers of Daily Newspapers and Habarileo, is collaborated with Tabora regional administration to organise the business forum that is aimed at promoting trade and investment opportunities in the region.

He said by solving working capital challenge, farmers “can produce at mass level and enable a nation to switch into middle income country.”

He further said that, TADB would participate in Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) Business Forum in Tabora and urged the RC to prepare five or more major projects whereby management of TADB will visit and verify them after receiving project proposals.

TSN Sales and Marketing Manager Januarius Maganga said it will continue collaborating with local government leaders to explore and raise awareness on opportunities available at various areas in a bid to woo investments in the areas through the forums.

Mr Mwanri said the region has number of business opportunities and what needed is to expose them.

He named the business opportunities were in dairy sector, honey production and agro-processing plus packaging, scheme for agricultural irrigation system particularly in green houses, cotton, cashew nuts, timber and many others.
