THE Mwanza regional Commissioner John Mongela has warned regional officials in different positions against using vehicles meant for attending to social services programs to ride them in their official travels outside the region.
Mr Mongela issued the warning shortly after receiving the donation of two vehicles from the Ariel Glaser Pediatrics AIDS Healthcare Initiative (AGPAHI) to facilitate in smooth undertaking of HIV-AIDS operations in Misungwi and Buchosa districts.
The two Nissan Patrol vehicles worth 186.5m/- are additional to other eight vehicles worth 746.2m/- the organization had provided for Mwanza, Simiyu, Shinyanga and Mara regions between October 2017 to September 2018 in supporting its HIV-AIDS program in the Lake Zone.
According to RC Mongela, any misuse of both government and donor funded materials including vehicles will not be tolerated anymore and reiterated his call for the officials to abide to his directive on the matter.
“I call upon all officials to stay distant from these vehicles and leave them free to serve intended missions. If I catch an official riding one to the meeting for instance, he will have to proceed on his own and order the vehicle back pending other disciplinary action,” he stressed.
