The annual club competition that draws golfers from all local clubs, is scheduled to tee off this weekend at the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Golf Club course of Dar es Salaam. Omari Mtiga, the Head of Consumer Banking, confirmed in the city yesterday, that the money is part of the continued support of the bank to the club and the game.
“NMB has a long relationship with TPDF and we understand the importance of golf and other sports in developing golf skills, thus we could not think twice about supporting the event and will continue doing that,” he said. “We are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to strengthen our commitment to support the club.
We complement Lugalo for a good job and we are looking forward to see the brightest tournament this weekend.” Lugalo Club’s Chairman, Michael Luwongo added that preparation has been finalised and that they are delighted to have a pulsating sponsorship from NMB.
“It is good for the tournament to be supported by NMB who have been doing it for several years now; we are delighted to have them aboard and we would like to see them continue to develop golf at club and national levels.”
Luwongo said that the 18-hole stroke play competition is open for both professional and amateur golfers as it aims at honouring the CDF (Chief Defence Forces) current Venance Mabeyo.
“This is important platform for the CDF who is the TPDF Lugalo club patron to receive an annual report and also observe the progress of the sport at the club,” he said.
He said that CDF Trophy is among biggest annual club tournaments at the club because it attracts many top golfers countrywide.
