AS the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) maintain that preparations for a three day Swahili International Expo (SITE) Exhibitions were finalized yesterday, an international airline has pledged to offer 50 percent discount in fare for main participants coming to Tanzania to attend the exhibitions.
Ethiopian Airlines Tanzania Manager, Dahlak Teferi said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that his company will equally offer another 20 percent of fare for other exhibitors and agents coming to visit the exhibitions scheduled to take place for three consecutive days beginning tomorrow.
TTB Board Chairman, Judge (rtd) Thomas Mihayo told a news conference in Dar es Salaam on Monday that the exhibitions which will be conducted for the third time in the country are expected to bring together 170 tourism companies as well as 300 international businesspeople and media.
“Apart from showcasing various tourism destinations and attractions in the country, the exhibitions equally seek to get rid of the notion that tourism is only for people from outside the country,’’ he maintained.
Yesterday, TTB Managing Director, Ms Devotha Mdachi, said preparations had reached the final stage, calling for Tanzanians to come up in bigger numbers to witness various tourist destinations and attractions.
According to Ms Mdachi, 55 companies had agreed to sponsor the exhibitions and that over 300 tourism agents would participate during the exhibitions.
