A POINT superiority helped JKU to reclaim the Zanzibar football title after the end of the fiercely contested Best Eight league.
The league that involved four teams from Pemba Island and four others from Unguja Zone was tough through and the winner had to be unveiled in a very last hour.
Mafunzo, who were among the title favourites, suffered a 1-0 loss to Hard Rock while JKU claimed a comfortable 3-1 win over Jamhuri at Amaan Stadium.
JKU claimed the league diadem after posting 33 points, a point superior to the runners up Zimamoto whose title race ended with 32 points.
Zimamoto, who wished JKU to lose their last match, defeated Opec 2-1 in their last encounter, while other title favourites, KVZ finished third overall after humiliating Mwenge 2-0.
League organisers, Zanzibar Football Association (ZFA) said the prize-giving ceremony for the winners will be staged on October 18 this year during the Charity Shield match.
