Renowned politician and former Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Land, Natural Resources and Environment, James Lembeli, has quit politics.
In a statement he shared this afternoon, Lembeli mentioned two reasons that led him to the decision, including him working for international organizations that require him to desist from politics.
He added that another reason involves problems facing his family due to his involvement in politics, especially when he joined the opposition Chadema.
“There’s a grave of my late father, who was a Chief, at home where CCM members used to visit and pray, but they stopped when I joined Chadema. I have decided not to be a member of any party, to let people continue to come and pray,” he said.
