TANZANIA: MINISTER for Culture, Arts and Sports, Damas Ndumbaro, has expressed his satisfaction with the provision of arts training at the Bagamoyo Institute of Arts and Culture (TaSUBA). Ndumbaro visited TaSUBa on Tuesday, aiming to assess the institution’s progress.

Ndumbaro said the government has allocated a budget of 1.5bn/- to further enhance the arts sector and improve the infrastructure of the institution.
He also highlighted the Ministry’s plan to award various prizes to winners of arts and entertainment competitions such as UMISSETA and UMITASHUMTA. This initiative aims to expand employment opportunities in the cultural and arts sector. Winners in these fields will receive additional training at TaSUBA. Ndumbaro commended the institute’s enrollment efforts, stating: “The enrollment at this institute is commendable and it clearly shows that they have surpassed their targets.
We must acknowledge that good enrollment is the lifeblood of the institution.” He also highlighted the institute’s international collaborations, stating: “By demonstrating this, we have seen experts from Germany providing comedy training as part of the institute’s excellent collaboration with various institutions.”
“When even foreign institutions recognise and contribute to your progress, it’s a sign that you’re doing well. Therefore, my impression of this institute is positive,” he concluded.
The visit underscores the government’s commitment to promoting arts and culture and ensuring the growth and sustainability of institutions like TaSUBA
