Mussa Jumbe: Tanzania mourns the demise of Zanzibar’s second president’s son   

ZANZIBAR: MUSSA Aboud Jumbe, the youngest son of the second Zanzibar President, the late Aboud Jumbe, has passed away during treatment at Mnazi Mmoja Referral Hospital in Zanzibar.

According to a statement from his elder brother, Dr. Aboud Jumbe, Mussa died from respiratory complications that had plagued him for a long time. His burial is scheduled to take place today, October 21, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the family cemetery in Migombani, located in the Unguja Urban West Region.

Speaking to a media outlet, Slayyum Mustapha Aboud Jumbe, a nephew of the deceased, said that Mussa had been battling illness for an extended period and had previously been taken to India for specialized treatment before returning to the country.

He recounted that Mussa’s condition worsened on Saturday, October 18, when he began experiencing breathing difficulties and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mnazi Mmoja Hospital, where he later passed away.

Mussa Aboud Jumbe is remembered by his family and the wider community for his contributions to social life and as a member of one of Zanzibar’s most prominent historical families.
