Mtibwa Sugar, Coastal Union share spoils

MOROGORO: MTIBWA Sugar and Coastal Union played out a goalless draw in a Mainland Premier League match at the Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro yesterday.
The result sees both teams remain in the lower half of the league standings after four rounds of fixtures.
Mtibwa Sugar now sit in eighth place with four points from three matches, while Coastal Union are 11th, also with four points but having played one game more.
The single point gained created a bottleneck in the middle of the table, where a total of six teams—Mtibwa Sugar, Young Africans, Azam FC, Dodoma Jiji, Mashujaa and Coastal Union—are now level on four points.
Only goal difference and other tie-breaking criteria separate these clubs.
Neither side was able to create clear-cut chances in a match characterised by tight midfield battles and cautious defending.

While the draw ensures both teams avoid defeat, it adds pressure to produce wins in their upcoming fixtures as the season gathers momentum.
Looking ahead, Coastal Union will host Fountain Gate next Wednesday, while Mtibwa Sugar will travel to Dodoma to face Dodoma Jiji on the same day.
The Premier League table remains tight in the early stages, with just three points separating the teams placed from 4th to 12th.
This underlines the competitive nature of the campaign so far, where consistency could prove key in determining who stays in the top half of the table
