MPIMBWE Council’s Town Planning Officer Dickson Mwenda (37) has appeared before Mlele District Court in Katavi region charged rapping a 15 years old girl.
The civil servant committed the offence in his private car.
Mwenda who was brought before the court on August 24, this year appeared before Resident Magistrate Mr Bilal Mohamed Ahmed.
He pleaded not guilty for the crime, however; prosecution side was well prepared for the case by summoning two witnesses to substantiate its case beyond reasonable doubts.
Since prosecution side had brought two witnesses into court the trial magistrate continued with preliminary hearing of the case.
Mr Ahmed said that Mwenda committed the crime contrary to section 130 (1), (2) (e) and 131 (1) of Penal Code Cap 16, R.E 2022.
The trial magistrate adjoined the case until September 08, this year when it will come up for hearing of witnesses who will be summoned by defence.
However, the trial magistrate had ordered Mwenda to remain in lawful custody after he failed to meet bail conditions which required him two sureties who each will signed a bond of 2m/- .
The court charge sheet shows that Mwenda committed the crime in his private in the evening of August 13 this year at Kibaoni Ward in Mlele district.
