Ministry focuses on pharmaceutical Industries

TANZANIA: The Minister of Health, Ummy Mwalimu, presented resolutions from the Parliamentary Committee on Social Services and Development to the Standing Committee on Health and HIV/AIDS.

The focus of these resolutions is to encourage investment in pharmaceutical and medical equipment industries. In a meeting led by Vice Chair Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, the Minister expressed concerns about the increasing influx of counterfeit food, drugs, cosmetics, and traditional medicines into the country.

Accompanied by Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Godwin Mollel, Permanent Secretary Dr. John Jingu, Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr. Grace Magembe, Government Chief Medical Officer Prof. Tumaini Nagu, and Directors from the Ministry, Minister Ummy Mwalimu highlighted the importance of addressing these challenges and emphasized the need for strong support for the pharmaceutical industry to ensure the availability of safe and effective medicines for the public.

The focus on investment in pharmaceutical and medical equipment industries is crucial for the country’s healthcare system and the well-being of its citizens.
