MINISTER for Constitution and Legal Affairs, Dr Pindi Chana has called on Tanzanians to grab opportunities and various services offered by the Registration Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA) to reduce unnecessary misunderstandings at family level and society at large.
Speaking to the RITA management here during her tour to the agency, apart from applauding the agency for rendering outstanding customer service, Dr Chana reminded Tanzanians that RITA plays a pivotal role in providing solution to many of the challenges they face, calling on them to make effective use of the Agency’s services.
“RITA remains a crucial and strategic institute given the fact that it’s a sole entity which offers vital services including birth and death certificates as well as insolvency and registration of trustees, therefore, there should be a special focus in these areas because there are so many people seeking RITA’s services,” she said.
Dr Chana added that it is high time RITA digitalised service delivery in a bid to fast-track service delivery, adding that by doing so, there would be efficiency and easy access of services.
“Now we are going to connect our information systems to make it easy for citizens to access information without visiting the Agency’s offices,” she said, calling on citizens to ensure that all the under-five children are registered.
The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ms Mary Makondo, said the ministry has been working closely with the RITA in ensuring that Tanzanians are well informed and educated on the necessity of preparing a will as well as avoiding unnecessary misunderstandings.
“Many citizens are not well informed about the importance of writing will thus, RITA has the role of ensuring that many people are well informed especially widows and orphans who are the major victims,” she said.
Ms Makondo noted that misunderstandings at a family level emerge especially when a parent dies and orphans are deprived of their rights to inherit property due to the lack of will and a guidance on how to divide deal with the matter property that may have been left behind.
“The will is crucial in finding solutions to unnecessary disputes which would otherwise not occur if a deceased had acted appropriately,” she said.
On his part, the RITA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Frank Kanyusi, said the agency will continue to implement the ministry’s directives together with the directives of the Board of Trustees to achieve its targets.
He added that the agency’s campaigns of registering all the under-five in the country is going on well and so far 24 regions have been reached, adding that Kigoma and Dar es Salaam are the only regions that are yet to be benefited.
“We expected to implement the programme in Kigoma next month (October) and November in Dar es Salaam,” said Mr Kanyusi while applauding Dr Chana for being appointed to lead the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs.
