Mayay gives winning tips to giants

THE Acting Director of Sports Ally Mayay has urged Simba and Young Africans to have critical analysis of their opponents Horoya and US Monastir before engaging them this weekend in Dar es Salaam.

Simba take on Horoya in CAF Champions League match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday while Yanga face Monastir in CAF Confederation Cup duel at the same venue this Sunday.

Both are decisive matches for the country’s envoys meaning that a win gives them a big ticket to stamp a remarkable feat by deploying two teams in the quarterfinals.

“What I can advise both teams is that they need to do thorough scrutiny of their opponents and identify their weak areas so that they can work out on how to capitalise from their weaknesses,” he said.

He, however, conceded that the two matches are tough as no team will approach them defensively but rather, each side will try to attack and attack.

“I believe Simba and Yanga coaches have had enough time to fully understand the setbacks of the visitors just like they (foreign teams) seize advantage of failure to play aerial balls by our envoys,” he said.

Meanwhile, both Simba and Yanga will respectively be playing their final home matches before travelling away for last group assignments.

The Msimbazi Street Reds are placed second in the Group C of the Champions League with 6 points after registering two back to back wins in their previous double-header matches against Vipers.

They cherished a 1-0 win in both duels and are eager to seal a third straight victory by defeating Horoya who previously beat Simba 1-0 in their group C opener in Conakri, Guinea.

Similarly, Yanga, are hunting their third group D win in their CAF Confederation Cup match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium where they defeated TP Mazembe 3-1 before hammering Real Bamako 2-0.

They are looking to maintain undefeated home record in the competition by stopping the Tunisian side who is the only team in group yet to suffer a loss.

The Jangwani Street side has so far bagged 7 points in their four-game outings; hence a victory on Sunday will take them to 10 points, simplifying their trip to the quarters.
