Maabad brace fires Coastal Union to victory over Mbeya City

TANGA: COASTAL Union secured a convincing 2-0 win against Mbeya City in a Mainland Premier League match played yesterday at the Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga.

The home side displayed composure, discipline and clinical finishing to walk away with all three points in front of their supporters.

Coastal Union’s hero of the day was forward Maabad Maulid, who scored both goals. His first goal came just four minutes into the match, giving the hosts an early advantage.

The goal stemmed from a well-timed assist by Meshack Mwawita, who delivered a precise pass that Maulid calmly converted.

The early strike immediately shifted momentum to Coastal Union, forcing Mbeya City to readjust their defensive setup. Despite the early setback, Mbeya City responded with urgency.

They dominated ball possession for long periods, created several promising chances and pushed aggressively in search of an equaliser.

However, their attempts were consistently broken down by the well-organised Coastal Union defence, which remained alert and disciplined throughout the half.

Just before the referee blew the whistle for the break, Mbeya City defender Kingu Pemba committed a foul on Maabad Maulid near the penalty area.
