Local firm bags President’s Manufacturer of the year gong

Hanspaul Group, a household name in the manufacturing field at the weekend, dominated proceedings at this year’s President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards gala (PMAYA).
The Group bagged an award through each of its subsidiaries, namely E – Motion Africa Ltd – Electric Vehicles,Dharam Singh Hanspaul and Sons Ltd – Construction and Steel Structure Buildings and Pre Engineered Structures, Hanspaul Industries Ltd – Paper and Paper packaging and Hanspaul Automechs Ltd – Safari and Special Purpose Vehicles, the at the weekend, scooped the PMAYA award, for the eighth time in a row.
Coordinated by the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), the gala was was graced by Vice President Philip Mpango, in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking after scooping the award, Hanspaul Group Chief Executive Officer Satbir Singh Hanspaul thanked the organizers for recognizing his firm’s contribution in the development of the industrial sector.
“This is quite an honor and it lends us extra impetus of doing even more,” said the elated CEO.
Mr Hanspaul equally dedicated the company’s success and mention in the awards to his mother Balbir Kaur Hanspaul, who passed away recently.
With over 40 year experience in the manufacturing fields, Arusha based group also built Steel Structure Buildings/Pre-Engineering Structures; handled Construction Projects; has expertise in manufacturing Paper Corrugated carton boxes and in fabrication of customized safari vehicle bodies for tourism industry as well as other special purpose vehicles for local markets in Tanzania.
Export of these vehicles are throughout Africa and Europe.
Detailing on electric vehicles, Mr Hanspaul disclosed that there were 15 tour operating firms which were now switching the use of electric motors for propulsion.
“We have interests from our government sectors like TANESCO, and also customers from other East African markets, one of them being Rwanda. We have Arusha Technical College as our partner as well,” he added.
