Local company enters joint venture to manufacture switchboards

DAR ES SALAAM FRENCH Energy Management Company, Schneider, has partnered with local electrical panel manufacturer and supplier of electrical products in Tanzania, JS Electromec, to locally manufacture Prisma iPM electrical switchboards for buildings and industries.

Prisma IPM represents Schneider Electric’s fully type-tested panel board for low voltage distribution and Motor Control Centres (MCC’s) in residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Prisma iPM is an electrical switchboard that is used to manage the electrical distribution system in large and commercial scale industries with a capacity of up to 4000 amps and 415 volts up to IP54 Form 4 Separation, delivered to meet the Schneider Electric quality guarantee.

“Local production will reduce the time needed to get the Prisma iPM switchboards to market, lowering costs and making the product more affordable for Tanzanian organizations,” stated Ms Carol Koech, Country President of the Schneider Electric East Africa during the launch of the partnership.

The collaboration between Schneider Electric and JS Electromec is targeted at introducing locally manufactured, smart, and innovative electrical solutions with features that can be easily integrated into new and existing electrical network installations using the latest communication protocols.

To ensure the success of this initiative, Schneider Electric is investing in the training of the JS Electromec local personnel to ensure that the product delivered to the market meets international IEC standards.

JS Electromec will leverage on its years of experience in fabrication and assembly of electrical panel boards, power backup battery racks and cabinets, distribution of electrical products and services to bring Schneider Electric technology, with the introduction of the Prisma iPM switchboard to the market.

“We understand that Prisma iPM is designed to provide optimum safety, high reliability and continuity of service in any electrical installation and this makes us excited to collaborate with Schneider Electric to expand the solutions we offer the market here in Dar es Salaam,” said John Ngandaku, Managing Director, JS Electromec Company Limited.

“This partnership will allow us to grow our capabilities in this market and with our newly fitted panel building facility, our customers can expect to experience a carefully designed electrical panel that will allow them to keep their electrical networks performing at the right solution and at the right price.”

This partnership marks a significant milestone for both Schneider Electric and JS Electromec, as they embark on a shared journey to revolutionize the energy landscape in Tanzania.
