KISWAHILI FOR BEGINNERS: TOPIC SIX. Telling time in kiswahili 2.

We proceed with our topic six .

Telling time in kiswahili

Swahili speakers referring to very early in the morning “alfajiri” as from 4 am to 5 am (This is specific with muslim prayers) and 6 am to 11 am is referring to asubuhi.

After noon “mchana” from 12pm to 3pm and evening “jioni” from 4 pm to 6 pm.

Lastly we have night “usiku” from 7pm to 5am so that many Swahili speakers will use the basic frame work that is divided into four parts.

NOTE: Swahili speakers some use the similar clock or watch that are set in 24 or 12 English hours but they read time in Kiswahili meaning that they have 12 hours in a day and 12 hours in night. No one is confused regardless of what it reads in a watch set in Kiswahili.
