JWT lauds government for inspiring local traders’ confidence

DAR ES SALAAM: CHAIRMAN of the Tanzania Business Community (JWT) in Kinondoni District, Godfrey Mtei, has praised the Tanzanian government for its continued efforts to promote business growth and market stability, following key speeches delivered during the Kariakoo Festival held recently.

Speaking after attending the event, Mtei described the remarks made by government officials as a strong source of encouragement for entrepreneurs and a clear sign of the administration’s commitment to economic progress.

“These statements from our national leaders are not just words, they are a source of motivation and direction for entrepreneurs and the broader economy,” Mtei said.

The festival was attended by senior government leaders, including the Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Selemani Jafo, Commissioner ofTRA Commissioner General, Yusuph Mwenda, and Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo.

The officials addressed business stakeholders on matters of taxation, market stability, and public safety.

Minister Jafo highlighted ongoing policy reforms aimed at making Tanzania a more business-friendly environment. Commissioner Mwenda emphasized fair taxation and urged continued dialogue between the government and small traders. Meanwhile, DC Mpogolo warned against the spread of misinformation that could destabilize public trust and disrupt business operations.

Mtei noted that the current business climate is more stable, customer activity has increased, and traders are experiencing more freedom in conducting business, all of which he attributed to reforms by the Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The Kariakoo Festival remains a strategic platform for promoting local trade, encouraging public-private cooperation, and supporting the country’s economic development goals.
