JKT Queens begin CAF Champions League campaign today

EGYPT: JKT Queens will kick off their first campaign in the CAF Women’s Champions League today, as they play their opening match against Gaborone United of Botswana, taking place in Egypt.

JKT Queens will step onto the pitch at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, aiming to start their continental journey on a strong note.

JKT Queens Media and Communications Officer, Masau Bwire, confirmed that the team arrived safely in Egypt on Friday with the players’ ready for the campaign.

Bwire said: “We thank God; the team is in excellent condition. Our technical bench and medical team have done a tremendous job to ensure every player is fit and ready. We have no injuries at the moment, which gives us the advantage of approaching our matches with our full squad available.”

According to Bwire their mission in Egypt is to see success and proudly wave the national flag.

“The girls know that every minute on the pitch counts and they are ready to give their all. We want to demonstrate that Tanzanian teams can compete and excel at this level,” he said.

After facing Gaborone United, JKT Queens will return to action on November 12 against Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast, before concluding their group fixtures against TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

JKT Queens are competing in Group B, which includes TP Mazembe, Asec Mimosas and Gaborone United. The team’s goal is to progress beyond the group stage and secure a place in the knockout rounds.
