Speaking at the meeting, Uganda’s Museveni assured Mr Kikwete that Uganda will continue supporting all efforts aimed at stabilising South Sudan, noting that peace in the country, particularly in the Equatoria region, which hosts a significant number of Ugandan nationals, is crucial for regional security and economic prosperity.

Dr Kikwete, who brings extensive diplomatic experience in African peace processes, was recently appointed by the African Union as Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.
His role is expected to strengthen mediation efforts, regional cooperation, and conflict resolution in the region, which continues to face complex political and security challenges.
