TANZANIA Golf Union (TGU) has announced November 11 as the date of union’s General Election to be held in Arusha at golf base in Usa River.
The election will go alongside the Tanzania Open Golf Championship which will tee off from November 10 to 13 at the Golf & Wildlife Resort of Usa River, Arusha.
Joseph Tango, the TGU chairman, told the ‘Daily News’ in Dar es Salaam yesterday that preparation is on top gear for them to run a successful general election under National Sports Council (NSC) guidance.
“We are planning to hold our election in Arusha next week as everything is in place. We expect everyone will attend to enable the union picks industrious leaders. He urged golf stakeholders to pick nomination forms as the election time is running short.
Tango appealed golfers and sport’s well-wishers to come forward to seek positions in the election. He said nomination forms can be collected from golf captains or the National Sports Council (NSC) and the doors are open for all Tanzanians.
He said the forms must be returned before November 6 deadline. Tango named posts to be contested during the election as chairman, vice chairman, honorary Secretary, Competition Secretary and Treasurer.
