THE late Ms Rose Athumani, a senior journalist at ‘Daily News’, who died at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam last Thursday, was buried yesterday at Ongama village in Moshi District Kili manjaro Region, yesterday.
Addressing mourners at a graveside mass, Mr. Living Mushi laid emphasis on interpersonal love one as a powerful agency for consolidating peace in families, broader communities and the nation at large.
He recalled that Rose had endeared herself to several people on account of being hardworking, cooperative and compassionate. “Moral decay is rife in the community. Everyone, in his or her position, should pray earnestly for the nation to have a community that hosts good people, and for youth to respect and love their parents”.
The TSN Human Resources Manager, Ms Salome Magaya, said whereas Rose was gone, current and future generations would profit immensely from her vast professional treasure in the form of news stories, features and analyses.
Rose, who joined TSN in August 2009, was born on September 21, 1976 in Kilimanjaro Region, and graduated at the Tanzania School of Journalism (now Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication of University of Dar es Salaam and University of Maine (US).
Before joining the State owned media house, Rose worked with Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) as a reporter. Prior to joining MCL, she worked with Radio Tanzania Dar es Salaam and had been an intern at the Business Times.
