Immigration set to improve services to tourists

KILIMANJARO: COMMISSIONER General of Immigration (CGI), Dr Anna Makakala said that the immigration department has embarked on special plans aimed at making sure that it serves well tourists who are expected to visit the country.

Dr Makakala expressed the commitment over the weekend in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region during the occasion to congratulate the Northern Zone regions’ immigration department officials who were awarded medals by President Samia Suluhu Hassan during the celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar.

“We are sure that the number of tourists who are expected to enter the country will increase this year due to the stepped up efforts by the government to promote our country and its tourist attractions, so we have planned to increase immigration officers at all points of entry into the country to improve services at a speed that will please the tourists who are expected to visit our country,” she said.

Regarding the event, Dr Makakala thanked President Samia for giving the awards which she said will motivate the staff of the department to work harder.

In addition, she paid tribute to all those who were awarded medals by the President, urging them to do justice to the awards they received by working harder.

“The awards is a debt to you that you need to do better; make sure you continue to devote yourself more for the benefit of the immigration department, the nation and all citizens in general,” she said.

On his side, Longido District Commissioner Marco Ng’umbi, who is one of the immigration department staff awarded the medals, said that the award motivated him to continue serving the nation with all his strength.

On his part, Hai District Administrative Secretary (DAS) in Kilimanjaro Region, Mr Sospeter Mabenga who was also one of the recipients of the medals as an Assistant Superintendent of Immigration by ranks, said the medal gave him the motivation to carry out his duties more efficiently.
