NATURAL Resources and Tourism Deputy Minister, Mary Masanja has directed the management of Katavi National Park to identify areas for investment.

She also told the management to have strategic plans for those places so as to attract local and foreign investors to invest in that national park.

She issued the directive during a working tour in the office of Katavi National Park on Monday, arguing that promoting the national park will attract a lot of investors to invest in the hospitality infrastructures such as building hotels and camps for tourists who come to the park.

“Identify those areas because many investors want to invest in this national park,” she said.

Speaking on the advantages of promoting the areas for investment, Ms Masanja said improvement in infrastructures and the environment will attract more tourists to come and visit Katavi National Park.

Massanja urged citizens to stop invading the national park areas and instructed the national park management to keep on educating the community on the importance of those areas for national benefits.

She added, “in order to keep on having a good relationship with the nearby community, I want you to go and educate them so that they won’t come near the national park for establishing settlements or conduct economic activities.”

Katavi National Park is the fifth largest national park in the country with 4,471 square kilometers.
