GS1 organises barcode exhibition

THE GS1 Tanzania in collaboration with Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner’s office have organised a one-week exhibition in line with Tanzania barcode day to educate the public on the use of barcodes in their products.
GS1 Tanzania Executive Director, Ms Fatma Kange told Daily News on Wednesday that the public needs to know the benefits and the use of barcode system and its advantages.
“The use of barcodes has brought about a positive revolution for business people in the country especially for industrialists,” said Ms Fatma.
The fair will be held at Mnazi Mmoja grounds, Dar es Salaam for seven days starting mid next month. Some 400 entrepreneurs are expected to participate, most GS1 Tanzania clients.
The exhibition will also feature seminars and workshops to raise awareness of barcodes usage. Some awards will be given to barcode best users.
Some of the government institutions confirmed to participate include Tanzania Industrial Research and Development Organisation (TIRDO), Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA), National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC), Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) and Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO).
Other institutions are ATOGS, Copyright Society of Tanzania (COSOTA), Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA) and all Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA).
