Employment will be CCM top priority, says Mwinyi

ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR CCM presidential candidate Dr Hussein Mwinyi has pledged that job creation will be his top priority in a second term, if elected, demonstrating his government’s commitment to tackling youth unemployment across the islands.
Speaking at a meeting with CCM youth members in Pemba, Dr Mwinyi acknowledged that unemployment remains a significant challenge for young people but assured them that his administration has concrete plans to address the issue.
“We know the main challenge facing youths is unemployment, but we are well-prepared to tackle it. The government is attracting more investors, particularly in the industrial sector, to create job opportunities for young people,” he said amid enthusiastic cheers.
Dr Mwinyi said that after achieving notable progress in education, health and other sectors, the government’s next major focus will be on employment generation.
His administration plans to roll out new initiatives, including interest-free loans to help young entrepreneurs start businesses and skills development programmes to enhance employability.
Addressing the gathering at the House of Representatives Hall in Wete, North Pemba Region, Dr Mwinyi urged the youth to remain patient, support him in the October 29 General Election and reject divisive politics driven by hatred.
He said that since the eighth phase government took office in 2020, it has upheld unity, peace and solidarity through the Government of National Unity (GNU).

“The future of our nation’s peace and elections lies in the hands of the youth, who make up over 65 per cent of the population. I urge you to safeguard our peace with all your strength,” he said, adding that young people have already proven their capability when entrusted with responsibility.
Dr Mwinyi promised that, once CCM wins the election, a significant number of new appointments will go to youths, including women, whom he praised for their strong leadership performance during his first term.
He expressed confidence that CCM will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming polls, crediting the strong mobilisation efforts of the party’s youths, women and parents’ wings.
Meanwhile, CCM Deputy Secretary-General (Zanzibar), Dr Mohammed Said described the youth league (UVCCM) as the party’s engine of change, urging young people to intensify their campaign efforts to ensure a landslide victory on October 29th , this year.
