Eight on pitch for Kabaddi showdown

AS the National Kabaddi team commemorates International Kabaddi Day, the team hosts Kabaddi tournaments at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Dar es Salaam today.

The team hosts the event in collaboration with the India High Commission with aim to showcase their game talents and the main goal is to commemorate that special day.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports Saidi Yakubu will today grace the event. The event will be held from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm at Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Dar es Salaam.

On March 24 every year, is a significant day for the Kabaddi fraternity to highlight their favourite game.

The team’s Chairman Abdallah Nyoni said the tournament will involve both girls and boys.

The tournament will start with a match between Kingani Secondary Girl’s team and High View Secondary School team from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm.

The next match will see Kingani Boys team facing the High View Secondary School boys in a game to be staged from 9:40 am to 10:30 am at the same venue.

On the same day, the Buffalo women’s team will play against the Kaole women’s team from 10:30 am to 11:15 am, and the Buffalo men’s team will play against the Kaole men’s team from 11:20 am to 12:10 pm.

Adding,he said the after the competition the winners will be rewarded from 12:15 pm to 12:30 pm.

Nyoni has also called on various sports stakeholders to support the team by attending the event as it will be a motivation for the young men and women to continue showcasing their talents.

He has also vowed to continue supporting young people in fulfilling their dreams through their talents.
