Dr Tulia hails NMB support for community projects

NATIONAL Assembly Speaker Tulia Ackson

SPEAKER of the National Assembly, Dr Tulia Ackson has commended NMB for supporting the government’s efforts in addressing challenges facing the health and education sectors in the country.

“It is a great pleasure to see that NMB supports the efforts done by the government in ensuring that the health and education sector becomes better in the country,” she said.

Dr Ackson made the remarks after receiving medical equipment worth 50m/- from NMB for Uhuru Hospital in Chamwino district of Dodoma region.

Some of the medical equipment donated are namely the emergency beds, examination beds, freezers, stretchers, mattresses, cardiac monitor machines and bed sheets.

Dr Tulia went further to ask NMB to continue supporting the government’s efforts in improving the health infrastructures including building clinics, hospitals and health centers across the country.

About the NMB Marathon, the Speaker applauded the bank on the recognition of the challenge facing a group of women in the country, who are suffering from Fistula, as it costs a large amount of money to treat them.

She also assured NMB that all members of parliament will register to participate and contribute on the intended amount that will be collected aiming at helping women facing fistula challenge.

Speaking earlier, NMB Chief Executive Officer, Ruth Zaipuna said the bank expects to collect 600m/- in the second season of the marathon to support the treatment of women with Fistula challenges who are being treated at the Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) hospital, Dar es Salaam.

The second season of NMB marathon that will be held in leaders ground in Dar es salaam will be accompanied with the main theme known as ‘Mwendo wa upendo ‘and the Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa will be the official guest.

She added that the main goal of providing the equipment is to cooperatively work  with the community and serve the community through Corporate Social Responsibility whereby in 2022 more than 2bn/-was allocated equal to one percent of the bank’s profit , therefore the equipment will help to improve the environment for caring for patients at Uhuru hospital.

Meanwhile, Zaipuna has welcomed the Speaker Dr. Tulia Ackson and all Members of Parliaments to register for the NMB marathon.
