RESIDENTS of Msasani, Osterbay and Masaki are urged to take good care of the road infrastructure along their areas, as they are frequently used in major athletic and cycling events.
This was revealed by the Kinondoni District Commissioner Godwin Gondwe while inspecting the ongoing road construction, which has been very friendly to major sports events. Mentioning a few; Gondwe said athletes, cyclists, and jogging clubs have mostly been using those roads.
“Many people use these roads to exercise so we have to ensure the safety of the road users as well as the tranquillity of these areas,” said Gondwe. Gondwe called the residents to watch over those roads and exercise on them as they are well built and have considered the safety of pedestrians, athletes, and cyclists.
“The construction of walkways will significantly reduce road accidents, especially for our sportsmen and pedestrians in these areas,” said Gondwe.
The District Commissioner further noted they would install lights alongside the road to fortify the safety of athletes and cyclists using those roads to practice; lights will be placed on the road along with road traffic signs.
Gondwe also said that when these areas are well maintained, they will attract many people for sports tourism.
