Data storage centre to attract more investors

INFORMATION, Communication and Information Technology Deputy Minister, Engineer Kundo Mathew has said the government will improve investment in the country, including cooperating with private sector in provision of various services.

The deputy minister made the remark on Thursday when he visited the Wingu Africa Data Storage Centre in Dar es Salaam.

“I commend you for coming to invest in our country with the investment worth 17bn/- this is an indication that investment in information and communication system has improved… this is also due to the enactment of which has helped a lot to attract more investors,” he said.

He explained that the country’s policies provide opportunities to ensure that private sector cooperate with the government in creating various opportunities. The deputy minister added that the presence of data storage centre will provide services in land locked countries like Zambia, Rwanda and Burundi.

He added that  the government  support  the efforts  being done by the private sector  noting that  the Tanzania Telecommunication  Company Limited (TTCL)  will provide services, adding that the centre opens the  economy and will help earn the country foreign currencies and generate employment to Tanzanians.

On his part, Chief Strategy Officer for Wingu Africa, Mr Nicholas Lodge, lauded the government for creating enabling environment for doing business in the country.

“We have the courage to invest in Tanzania because of safety of our capital and properties, so we ask the government to continue doing so to attract more investors and make the services available to other nations.”  Mr Lodge underlined.

On his part, Data Storage Center Director, Mr Huneid Alli said that investors have continued to come to invest a lot of money in the Tanzania because they are assured of reliable market.
