AS Premier League giants Simba and Young Africans go head to head in a Dar es Salaam derby this Sunday, Fiston Mayele and Clatous Chama lock horns in outstanding records.
Mayele is currently the top goal scorer in the ongoing campaign with 16 goals to his name as he chases his first golden boot title at the end of the season.
He has since reached his own goal tally of the last season when he fired home 16 goals to end the runners up to the former Geita Gold striker, George Mpole who won the top scorer award after netting 17 goals.
Unfortunately, he is yet to score against Simba in a league match, hence this is an opportunity for him to erase that unconvincing run.
For Chama, he is the league’s current top assist with 14 assists as he look certain to stretch it further if he manages to have a great game on the day.
He provided the spectacular assist during the first round traditional derby clash for Augustine Okrah to score an opening goal for the Msimbazi Street Reds which was later cancelled out by Aziz Ki set-piece.
The Zambian midfield maestro has been involved in 17 goals so far this term and he continues to add value to the country’s Premier League courtesy of his brilliant football skills which are liked by many people.
Overall, Simba have scored 60 goals and conceded 14 goals, losing one match, drawing six games and winning 18 encounters in the process.
For Yanga, they have netted 50 goals and conceded 11 goals. They have succumbed to one loss, two draws while they have won 22 matches.
In terms of clean sheets, Yanga goalkeeper Djigui Diarra leads the list with 15 clean sheets against 12 clean sheets stamped by his Simba colleague, Aishi Manula.
The Malian shot-stopper has had a good ride at the Jangwani Street club and this season, he has played 22 matches taking 1936 minutes and succeeded to save one spot kick.
For Manula, he has been paraded in 24 encounters of the ongoing league using 2024 minutes making him to command the list of best domestic goalies.
In his recent remarks, Simba Assistant Coach Juma Mgunda said preparations for the game are going on well saying they were already aware about the date of the game.
“It has our destiny of the season. We are still in the race of the championship because the champion of the campaign will be declared when the season is over,” he said.
Meanwhile, Simba have announced that VIP A tickets which were sold at 30,000/- have been sold out prior to the big encounter and that only VIP B, C and ordinary seats are available for the purchase.
