Dar- Ankara ties go next level

TANZANIA in collaboration with Turkey has intensified efforts to enhance the country’s film industry as the Turkish film sector continues to appeal to a big number of Tanzanians.

The renewed efforts will provide training to the Tanzanian actors and actress, sharing experience on how to improve film production as well as creating good environment that will be easy for them to do their work effectively.

This comes after the Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports, Mohamed Mchengerwa, who is in Turkey to support the National Amputee Football team, Tembo Warriors in their World Cup 2022 campaign, paid a visit to areas where  Turkish movies; The Dirilis Ertugrul and Kurulus Osman (the Ottoman) are being produced

During the visit as per the ministry’s instagram page, Mchengerwa was accompanied with Tanzanian Ambassador to Turkey, Yacoub Mohammed and the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Hassan Abbas.

The docket minister added that as the ministry met with Mehmet, who is the organizer, producers involved in creating the scenes, as well as actors and actress who starred in the named films in order to learn from the Turkish film experience as a way to improve the Tanzanian film industry.

“It was a great pleasure to visit the big studio and being able to see environment where the Erturgul and Kurulus Osman films are being produced,’’ he added

In addition, the minister added that the actors inside the country will get the opportunity to participate in films made in Turkey and Turkish will also come to Tanzania to also join in films that will be produced.

Additionally, the minister visited the Fenerbahce football club where he learned how the club uses various techniques in empowering young talents before being further groomed to join global-level clubs.

In empowering the youth with football talent, the minister said the owners of the club have promised to bring Turkish coaches to Tanzania with the aim of sharpening domestic players.

‘’It is a pleasure to get this opportunity to come to the club and see how the club is run to create good environment for youth football, ’he said.

Due to the good relations the two countries have built, Mchengerwa said the Turkish football giants also gave them hints on how to improve the infrastructure of the Tanzanian arenas in terms of quality.
