Cricket training boosts game in Lake Zone

MWANZA: Cricket continues to grow wings in the Lake Zone after successful development projects in the Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, and Tanga regions.
The just climaxed Criiio Cricket Seminar for sports teachers from 56 teachers across Lake Zone regions has been highly successful, according to Ateef Salim, the The Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA)’s spokesman.
“We have completed training school teachers from 56 selected schools across various regions as part of its initiative to integrate cricket into school curriculums,” he explained.
The seminar, held at Nsumba Secondary School in Mwanza, began on March 7th and climaxed on 9th March this year, bringing together 17 sports teachers from schools in Tabora, Simiyu, Geita, Kagera, Shinyanga, Mwanza, Kigoma, and Mara.
Led by TCA Chief Development Officer Hamisi Abdallah and assisted by experienced coaches Benson Mwita and Richard Marekana, the sessions provided structured training, equipping teachers with the skills and knowledge to effectively introduce cricket to students in their respective schools.
This marks the first of four zonal seminars as TCA continues its mission to expand grassroots cricket development nationwide. With schools scattered across the country, upcoming seminars will ensure that teachers from all selected schools receive comprehensive training.
